En route, we take a short break at Umiam Lake, also known as “Bara Pani” or the Big Water, known for its picturesque and panoramic setting. Dinner & overnight stay in Shillong. **Accommodation**: Hotel Tripura Castle or Similar (3*) ### Day 2: Excursion to Dawki River After breakfast, drive to Dawki (2 hrs approx) on the Indo Bangladesh border. The drive from Shillong to Dawki is a thrilling experience passing through deep gorges and ravines with the Umngot river running through. Enjoy the scenery and take a ride in local boats. After lunch (at own expense), drive up to the village of Mawlynnong in East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, The cleanest village in Asia. Walk through this picturesque village and visit the single root bridge in the neighboring village of Riwai (time permitting). Later, by evening drive back to Shillong. Overnight stay in Shillong. **Accommodation**: Hotel Tripura Castle or Similar (3*) ### Day 3: Trek to Double Decker Root Bridges After early morning Breakfast at the Hotel & Checkout & drive to the trek starting point Laitkynsew Village (2 hrs 35 mins approx). We undertake a trek to see the unique Double Decker root bridges (involves approx. 3500 steps one way). Living Root Bridges are unique live bridges found only in the Khasi Hills of Meghalaya. The secondary roots of a species of Indian Rubber Tree Ficus Elastica- are trained over 20-25 years to form these living bridges to cross ​fast-flowing rivers and streams. The Double Decker Root Bridge has two levels. They are very strong, can carry many people at a time and perhaps can last 500 years. The trek passes through some verdant slopes, ​crisscrossed by streams. At some places the stream has made some natural ponds, containing emerald blue water where you can take a dip. The trek is moderately difficult since one needs to descend 2500 feet into the valley and then climb up the same altitude again.​ Transfer to the resort and & Check In.
