Day 1
Welcome to Colombo
Arrive at Colombo International Airport and transfer to the hotel and check in (1 hr approx). Colombo, with amazing cuisine and luxury hotels has been earning itself a well-deserved reputation as a top destination for international travelers. Colombo is a city with a rich history. Known the Greeks, Arabs, and Chinese for over 2000 years because of its natural harbour and as a centre of trade, it was colonized by the Portuguese, the Dutch, and then the British between 1505 and 1948. Each colonial power left a distinctive mark and contributed greatly to the character of the city. In the evening, enjoy high tea at Galle Face Hotel Colombo at 04:00 PM. Later meet for “Pink Evening” at the hotel. Dinner & overnight stay in Colombo.

Day 2
Ancient City of Polonnaruwa
After breakfast at the Hotel, checkout and proceed to Polonnaruwa @08:00 AM (4.5 hrs approx). On reaching explore the second ancient capital Polonnaruwa, a UNESCO World Heritage and a well-planned medieval city defended by enclosing walls, graced by palaces, shrines, monasteries, pavilions, parks, ponds and irrigation lakes. Lunch at a local restaurant (at own expense). Exploring the city on tuk tuk. Start with a visit to the Polonnaruwa Museum, Gal Vihara, Nissanka Latha Mandapaya, Lankathilaka Temple and the ruined stone walls of the Royal Palace. After sightseeing proceed to Habarana (1 hr approx) and check in to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Habarana.

Day 3
Habarana to Kandy
After breakfast at the Hotel, checkout and proceed to Kandy @10:30 AM (3 hrs approx). the bustling hill country capital is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. En-route stop at Matale Spice Garden to buy spices. Visit the peaceful green garden, where you can see how herbs are grown in their natural environment then learn how you can use them to enhance the taste of meals. Have lunch on the way (at own expense). Continue to Kandy. on reaching visit to the workshop of a batik manufacturer in Kandy to learn about the artisan tradition of making designs on fabric with candle wax. Later check in to the hotel. Dinner & overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 4
Kandy Sightseeing
After a leisurely breakfast, visit the famous Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic or Sri Dalada Maligawa is a Buddhist temple in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The temple of the tooth is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the temple and the relic. Later, have lunch (at own expense). After lunch, we will visit a Gem Shop. Sri Lanka is known for being the ‘Isle of Gems’ and Kandy is one of the main areas where a large amount of gems are available in retail shops. In the evening, enjoy the Kandyan cultural show and embrace the unique dance forms and styles. Kandy plays an integral part of the country’s cultural identity with Kandyan dancing taking centre stage as the National dance of Sri Lanka. After the show, return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay in Kandy.

Day 5
Kandy to Ahangama
After breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to Ahangama (5 hrs approx). Ahangama, a secluded and charming fishing village featured under the spotlight for being one of the best whale watching destinations in the world. Apart from that a stunning crescent beach, great breaks for surfers, modest guesthouses and a string of simple restaurants at the back of the sand is what Mirissa is known for. Have lunch (at own expense). After lunch, visit Ariyapala Masks Factory is situated in Ambalangoda in Sri Lanka. In the past mask making was a famous tradition and the Ambalangoda area was at the foremost because there were very talented artisans. Ariyapala Masks Factory is situated in the Southern Province in Sri Lanka. The museum has displays of masks and also tools that were used to make masks. The library also has records of the process of mask making. After the sightseeing, proceed to Ahangama and check in to the hotel. Dinner & overnight stay in Ahangama.

Day 6
Whale Watching - Mirissa
With packed breakfast, leave @05:30 am for watching whales in Mirissa in order to be at the jetty around 6:00 am. Mirissa is the ideal place for whale and dolphin watching as the waters become a playground for a myriad of whales and dolphin species. Whale watching trip usually takes 2-3 hours, the average duration is 3h. Keep in your mind that you are going to see wild life so spotting of whales is not 100% guaranteed. Blue whales are most often seen. You can see also sperm whales, fin whales, Bryde’s whales, short finned whales, dolphins and rarely killer whales and whale shark. Sometimes you will pass turtles and flying fish. Return to the hotel and have lunch (at own expense). Rest of the day is free at leisure. In the evening, visit Coconut Tree Hill. A short, exciting trek from the base to the summit of the hill or ‘dome’ takes you about 10 minutes through the coconut estate before you’re left in awe at the most stunning view of Mirissa and its golden coast. Dinner & overnight stay in Ahangama.

Day 7
Trip to Galle
After breakfast, check out and proceed to Colombo (3 hrs approx). En-route make a stop in Galle and explore the Fort, southern province with a colorful history. Galle Fort offers the best preserved example of a European built fortified city in Asia. It was built by the Dutch from the 17th Century and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll the winding streets of this immensely charming town and discover its decaying colonial buildings, grand fort walls and numerous boutiques and cafés. Walk along the ramparts, pass the lighthouse and the old Portuguese Harbour and stop to see some of the many colonial era buildings, including the Dutch Reformed Church, the Anglican All Saints Church and the former house of the Dutch governor, built in 1684 and now the luxurious Amangalla hotel. Have lunch (at own expense) and drive to Colombo. On arrival, visit the Lotus Tower which is as high as 350 meters (External visit only). Drive past Galle Face Green and visit the Old Parliament Building (External visit only) which is reminiscent of the New-baroque architectural style.
