Day 1
BEST OF BEGINNINGS
After landing in picturesque Paro, make your way to Thimphu which is the capital of Bhutan and often referred to as its nerve centre. En route, stop and marvel at the Tachogang Lakhang which is one of the oldest iron bridges in all of Bhutan, located just off the Paro-Thimphu highway. The chains and links make this an exciting bridge steeped in history since it was built as far back as the 15th century. You also stop at Chuzom which is the point of confluence of two of Bhutan’s key rivers. There are several scattered villages en route and while the journey itself is not a history lesson, what it does do is acquaint you with the philosophy of a country that prides itself on being above the gloom, perennially happy and content. Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Day 2
TUNE INTO THIMPU
Thimphu is many a splendored thing as it struggles to keep pace with all the changes that modern day imposes on it. The Chang Gangkha monastery and Buddha Point (Kuensel Phodrang) located here are one of the oldest temples in the valley and there is something special and unique about this space. The Zilukha nunnery and the textile museum are generous with their history and a walk through their rooms transports you to another time and place. The oldest post office located here allows you to personalize your own stamp…. How’s that for a time when the next generation is going to grow up without the joy of a postal service or peeling a special stamp off an envelope and saving it for posterity? Head to the market after a day of sightseeing. Overnight stay in Thimphu.
-
Day 3
CHIMI LAKHANG TEMPLE
After the breakfast, before proceeding to drive to warm valley of Punakha over the most beautiful pass in the country called Dochula pass at 3150m. 108 Druk Wangyel Chortens built over the pass by queen mother in 2003 marks the pass more important and beautiful thus the pass is one the must visit passes in Bhutan. If the weather permits, we can enjoy a spectacular view of the highest mountains of Bhutan at a sight that stretches almost 180 degrees. After a photo break, we will continue our drive downhill from the pass. En-route we will take awesome walk through the rice field of Mesina to Chimi Lhakhang-Temple of fertility. Overnight in Punakha, altitude 1350m
-
Day 4
DAY 4: SIGHTSEEING IN PUNAKHA
After our leisurely breakfast, enjoy the beautiful Punakha valley. We will hike to Khamsum Yulay Namgyal Chorten, which will take about 45 mints to reach on the top. Then we will visit Punakha Suspension Bridge. Afternoon visit Punakha Dzong - built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. The Dzong was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness). Punakha is still the winter residence of Je-Khenpo religious head of Bhutan. King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk convened the first National Assembly here in 1952. You are free to pick anything that interest you, based on time. Overnight in Punakha , altitude 1350m.
-
Day 5
PASSING FROM PUNAKHA TO PARO
Make your way to Paro today which is located on the banks of the picturesque river by the same name. This is one of Bhutan’s gateways to the master trek to Tiger’s nest and retains its age-old charm, complete with colorful wooden houses lining the street, rosy checked-children playing peek a boo behind pillars and monks in crimson robes searching for their spot of zen. Visit the imposing dzong or stupa built here which anchors the town and also the local museum which gives you a sense of Bhutanese history down the ages. Amble through the town on foot in the second half, stop and drink in the views (and some local brews) and sample their food at one of the many cafes dotting the street. Overnight stay in Paro.
-
Day 6
DAY 6: CHALELA PASS OR TIGER’S
Begin your day early as you ready to trek up to Tiger’s Nest or Takshang Lakhang. The monastery located here is one of the oldest and most beautiful in Bhutan and is also supposed to be the birthplace of Buddhism for the Bhutanese, so a trek is worth your while if you truly want to embrace the spirit of this beautiful nation. The roughly 2-3 hour trek takes you through the gorgeous smelling pine forest, past the prayer wheels to the ridge dotted with prayer flags but is a steep climb and you need to be fit to undertake it. This is truly the highlight of your trip as most travel to Bhutan is geared towards this dramatic trek and monastery visit. Those who do not wish to trek the Tiger’s Nest can drive to the picturesque Chalela Pass and capture some stunning views. Overnight stay in Paro.
-
Day 7
DAY 7: ADIOS BHUTAN
Your quota of happiness seems up at this point as you make your way back home from the Paro airport. Bhutan is truly magical and you come away invigorated, humbled and most importantly happy! The perfect way to move forward in life.

Regarding the hotels, what does OR SIMILAR refer to?
OR SIMILAR means that the hotel booked might be different from the hotel mentioned in the itinerary. 90% of the time we book the hotel that’s mentioned, but under few situations it might differ due to on-the-ground factors. So we pick an alternate hotel, but always in the same class and area of the city. -
